Recognizing early the significance of Greek island cruising, InterMed  became a strategic partner with many Greek ship owners, operating cruises in the Aegean Sea, featuring their 3, 4 and 7 day cruises in its client’s brochures and also chartering Greek vessels for their ad hoc group movements in the Eastern and Western Mediterranean. To this day, InterMed  continues to be one of the top sellers of Greek island cruises in the Aegean Sea, having developed new and innovative itineraries for its clients that eventually became a staple offer in the cruise lines’ own annual schedules.

Ports of Call and Shore Excursions:

Mykonos, Greece. It’s no coincidence that Mykonos attracts so many visitors from all over the world. This windswept isle is the gem of the Cyclades islands, with a colourful harbour full of little fishing boats nestled happily next to each other, while the streets with their striking white homes, churches, windmills, smart boutiques, bars and excellent restaurants attract visitors day or night. Take a walk up the famous windmills, stroll through the narrow streets or just
relax on the waterfront, enjoy the sunset drinking traditional ouzo. No excursion.

Santorini, Greece. It is quite simply one of the most stunning places on earth! It is what many of your clients think when they dream of Greece and this fashionable island frequently surpasses the imagination. Few sights are more memorable than the dazzling whitewashed buildings that sit perched on the rim of black volcanic cliffs terraced with ribbons of every hue. Santorini really rejuvenates the soul. Excursions: Oia Village & Fira Town or, The Volcanic Tour and Hot Springs.

Rhodes, Greece. It is consistently blessed with the warm, soothing gaze of Helios, the god of the sun; this magical island combines the very best of Greece with a lively present and a rich historical past. Climb to the top of the Acropolis of Lindos and enjoy a breathtaking view of the great expanse of the Aegean Sea and St. Paul’s Bay below. Walk through the Medieval city of Rhodes to view the Palace of the Knights of St John; history is present everywhere. Excursions: Rhodes & Acropolis of Lindos, Rhodes Old Town & Filerimos.

Heraklion (Crete), Greece. Heraklion, where the ship docks, is the capital of Crete and the birthplace of Zeus, the king of the ancient Olympian Gods. Next to the Parthenon in Athens, Knossos is the most visited site in Greece. Europe’s first civilization, the Minoan, flourished here from 2800 to 1150 BC. The Minoan’s imaginative use of colour is displayed in their vivid frescoes and brightly painted columns of the Minoan Palace, discovered by Sir Arthur Evans. Excursions: The Palace of Knossos and the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion.

Patmos, Greece. This is an island of serenity, often called the Jerusalem of the Aegean. The placid, sun baked vista of Patmos, whose whitewashed homes are emblazoned with blossoms of every hue, is the perfect backdrop for its architectural masterpiece, the Monastery of St. John, the Theologian, one of the 12 disciples of Christ. It is here, in the Cave of the Apocalypse, that St. John interpreted the voice of God and wrote the Book of Revelations, the last part of the New Testament. Excursions: St John’s Monastery & Grotto of Revelations.

Kusadasi, Turkey. A dynamic resort town on the Aegean it has an electric holiday atmosphere born from its beaches, nightlife and open-air restaurants, all located at the waterfront. Despite its many attractions, Kusadasi is mainly used as a base from which to explore the Greco-Roman ancient site of Ephesus. Archaeology traces Ephesus back to the Delphic oracle and to Alexander the Great and was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Excursions: Ancient Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary.

Istanbul, Turkey. It is the largest city in Turkey, serves as the gateway for most travellers. Capital to the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires, it is the only city in the world straddling two continents-Europe and Asia. The city is an amalgam of mosques, churches, cabarets, palaces and bazaars. A visitor marvels at the magnificence of Aghia Sophia, the perfect proportions of the Mosque of Suleiman, the carpet covered floors and six minarets of the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. Excursions: Overnight stay. Extensive tour selection.
