Prehistory, the Classical period, Roman domination, the Byzantine Empire, the Crusades and Modern times: Greece through the centuries will unfold before your eyes on this three day tour.
1st Day: Leave Athens by the coastal road to the Corinth Canal (short stop). Drive on and visit the 4th BC Century Theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Then proceed to the town of Nauplion (short stop), Greece’s first modern capital after from the Ottoman Empire. Drive on to Mycenae, the Homeric city of Atreides – the city ‘’rich in gold’’ of the ancient poets and visit the Lion’s Gate the Cyclopean Walls, the Royal Tombs etc. Then depart for Olympia, through Central Peloponnese and the Towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Overnight in Olympia, the Cradle of the Olympic Games.
2nd Day: In the morning visit the Archaeological Site with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. Then drive on through the plains of Elia and Achaia to the magnificent Rion - Antirion Bridge which connects the Peloponnese to mainland Greece. Pass by the picturesque Towns of Nafpaktos (Lepanto) and Itea to arrive in Delphi. Overnight.
3rd Day: In the morning visit the Archaeological Site, the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Delphi Museum, containing such masterpieces of Ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias. Then drive through the village of Arachova, renowned for its colourful rugs and carpets. Return to Athens via Levadia and Thebes and arrive in the early evening.
